Roberto Sarotto Estates is a Piedmontese winery and family business that combines local traditions with modern innovations. The winery owns over 90 hectares of vineyards in the Piedmont region, including Barolo and Barbaresco. Roberto Sarotto founded this company in 2001, and his family has over 200 years of experience in winemaking. Roberto Sarotto has received numerous awards and mentions for its wines both in Finland and internationally. The story of Roberto Sarotto winery began back in 1820, when Giuseppe Sarotto, the founder of the family, arrived in Neviglie from Barbaresco. Roberto Sarotto’s family descended from him, and he was the first generation to undertake the winemaking activity, followed by his son Giovanni and then his grandson Luigi Giovanni. Production was originally limited to Dolcetto, which was traded both on the local market and exported wholesale to England. In the early 1940s, with the advent of the Second World War and phylloxera, the sector suffered a period of recession and business came dramatically to a standstill. Angelo succeeded his father and was determined to continue the family business, tending the vineyards on his parents’ land. Thanks to the support of his wife Maria, cultivation expanded to include new grape varieties such as Moscato, Freisa and Barbera. In 1984, Angelo’s son Roberto graduated from wine school in Alba, marking a new beginning for the winemaking activity that had come to a halt years before. Seven years later, the purchase of a 20-hectare property in Barolo was a turning point in the development of the winery, taking it into the circle of the most renowned producers in Piedmont. The expansion of the estate was just beginning. Vineyards in the most important crus in the municipality of Neive, were annexed over the next few years, adding Barbaresco to the range of wines. In the early 1990s, Roberto and his wife Aurora, pushed their ambitions even further, to the area of Gavi, where they subsequently set up a secondary winery. Wines

Domäne Wachau is a cooperative of hundreds of growers, which the world's most influential wine writer Robert Parker has named one of the world's highest quality wine cooperatives. The producer is often seen as one of the top Austrian wine producers, to which Domäne Wachau undoubtedly belongs both in terms of its size and the quality of its wines. In addition to Grüner Veltliner, Domäne Wachau is known for its skillful Rieslings. All wines are produced as certified vegan wines. In this Master Class lecture, Master of Wine and lecturer at the Austrian Wine Academy Roman Horvath takes us into the world of Austrian Grüner Veltliner wines and of course we get to taste one Smaragd-level Riesling wine as well. The pearls of this lecture are the Grüner Veltliner Achleiten wines from three different vintages. Roman Horvath MW is one of the outstanding personalities in the world of Austrian wine, especially known for his role at Domäne Wachau, where he has been a key figure since 2004. Together with Heinz Frischengruber and a top wine team, he is responsible for the qualitative restructuring,realignment, and continued success of the estate. Horvath's path to wine, however, was unusual. As a career changer with no previous professional experience in the wine industry, a supposedly good bottle of matured Wachau Riesling, which did not meet his taste, aroused his curiosity and passion for wine. This experience motivated him to buy his first wine book and marked the beginning of his career in wine. Horvath deepened his knowledge by attending numerous wine seminars and gained practicalexperience in restaurants as well as in the wine trade and through internships at wineries abroad. Hisacademic career reached a peak when he passed the tasting exam of the prestigious Master of Wine (MW) training on his first attempt and then fought his way through the demanding theory until hesuccessfully graduated in 2009. Rheinhessenin nykytuottajien parhaimmistoon lukeutuva, viileässä Bechtheimin kylässä viljelevä Jochen Dreissigacker tunnetaan Saksassa ja maailmalla tinkimättömästä terroir-ajattelustaan ja korkealaatuisista Riesling-viineistään. Dreissigacker is located in the Rheinhessen wine region, which is experiencing a tremendous qualitative renaissance. One of the best producers in Rheinhessen today, Jochen Dreissigacker, who farms in the cool village of Bechtheim, is known in Germany and around the world for his uncompromising terroir thinking and high-quality Riesling wines. Although the Dreissigacker family has been cultivating wine since the early 18th century, it was only Jochen's parents and Jochen himself who systematically developed winemaking with the aim of achieving the best possible quality. In this Master Class lecture, you will get to know top-quality blended Riesling wines led by Dreissigacker's export manager Samuel Kirr. Samuel talks about the noble art of blending wines, i.e. combining different wines to create a unique and harmonious blend. Vintages Riesling wines, made in the Champagne style, combine several different Riesling vintages into wonderful wholes. Wunderwerk wines will be introduced to premium plot blends that emphasize the importance of terroir, i.e. local conditions. The multi-dimensional Dreissigacker Vintages wines are the result of a fascinating process that begins in the vineyards around Bechtheim, continues in the cellars of the winery and culminates in an excellent Riesling cuvée. A wine that shows the diversity of the Riesling grape's flavors. The idea for Vintages wines was born from bringing the blending of wines familiar from Champagne to Riesling still wines, harmoniously combining the multi-dimensionality of different vintages in one wine. The first Vintages Edition I was released in 2018. During the lecture, you will get to taste four different Vintages Edition wines. The Dreissigacker Wunderwerk wines, on the other hand, are united by two completely different individual plots located in Rheinhessen. In this lecture you will taste Wunderwerk Riesling wines from 2013 and 2019, which contain the contrasting flavors of the Bechtheim sun and the coolness of the Westhofen vineyards.
