Malbec Argentino viittaa täyteläiseen punaviiniin, joka on valmistettu Malbec-rypäleestä. Tästä lajikkeesta on tullut Argentiinan tunnusmerkki, vaikka se onkin alunperin peräisin Ranskasta. Argentiinalainen Malbec kasvaa pääasiassa Mendozan alueen korkealla sijaitsevilla viinitarhoilla, ja se tunnetaan tuhdeista, tummista hedelmäisistä mauistaan (kuten karhunvatukka ja luumu), samettisesta koostumuksestaan ja pehmeästä, suklaisesta tai savuisesta jälkimaustaan.
Vuonna 1902 perustettu argentiinalainen Bodega Catena Zapata tunnetaan uraauurtavasta roolistaan Malbecin elvyttämisessä ja korkealla sijaitsevien viiniköynnösten hyödyntämisestä, Mendozan alueella, Andien juurella. Perheen lähes 1500 metrin korkeudessa sijaitsevaa Adrianna-viinipalstaa kutsutaankin Etelä-Amerikan Grand Cruksi. Catena Zapatan visiona on valmistaa runsaita, moniulotteisia ja unohtumattomia viinejä, jotka ovat uskollisia kasvualueelleen. Catenan Zapatan tarina on samalla argentiinalaisen viinin tarina.

Michel Militon, Catena Zapatan perheen edustaja, päättää Master Classin Nicolás Catena Zapata Adrianna cru 2020 -viinillä, joka on Cabernet Sauvignonin ja Malbecin sekoitus. Malbec Argentino refers to a full-bodied red wine made from the Malbec grape. This variety has become a hallmark of Argentina, although it originally originated in France. Argentine Malbec is grown primarily in the high-altitude vineyards of the Mendoza region, and is known for its rich, dark fruit flavors (such as blackberry and plum), velvety texture, and soft, chocolatey or smoky aftertaste.
Founded in 1902, Argentine Bodega Catena Zapata is known for its pioneering role in the revival of Malbec and the exploitation of high-altitude vines in the Mendoza region, in the foothills of the Andes. The family’s Adrianna vineyard, located at an altitude of almost 1,500 meters, is called the Grand Cru of South America. Catena Zapata’s vision is to produce rich, multi-dimensional, and unforgettable wines that are true to their region. The story of Catena Zapata is also the story of Argentine wine.

Michel Militon, representative of the Catena Zapata family, will conclude the Master Class with the Nicolás Catena Zapata Adrianna cru 2020, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. With this wine, Nicolás Catena Zapata became the first luxury cuvée from Argentina to be exported worldwide in 1997. This wine recreates the ”original Bordeaux blend” of the 18th and 19th centuries, when Malbec dominated Merlot and was on a par with Cabernet Sauvignon in the Médoc.
