Mario Geisse on Brasilian kukoistavan kuohuviiniteollisuuden edelläkävijä. Mario Geisse is a pioneer of the flourishing sparkling wine industry in Brazil. In 1976, he moved from his native Chile to run Moet & Chandon do Brazil before setting up his own estate, Familia Geisse. The vinyards belong to the wine-growing region of Vale da Montanha, where the higher altitude ensures enough sun to ripen the fruit and cool nights to preserve the acidity necessacy for making fine sparkling wines. The wines are made by the methode traditionelle from 75-25 blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The grapes are hand-picked, and the bottles of fermenting wines resting on their lees are turned by hand.
